OCTOBER 2008

11.10.08 - River Clean

Once a year members of the Hayfield Civic Trust turn out in wellies and rubber gloves to clean the stretch of river through the village. Meet at 13:30 by the skip on the Royal Car Park. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

22.10.08 - Bugsworth Basin Talk

Talk by Ian Edgar about Bugsworth Basin in the Village Hall, Hayfield at 20:00. Admission for non- members £2. Refreshments included.

23.11.08 - Sheep Wash Tidy Up

Autumn tidy up at Booth sheep wash. Meet on site at 10:00 with wellies and gloves. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

25.02.09 - AGM and Mountain Rescue talk to be held in Hayfield Village Hall at 20:00

Nominations for the committee to be received by the 9th February 2009. Nomination papers available from the Secretary, telephone 01663 743847. The AGM will be followed by a talk by Ian Hurst 'Mountain Rescue - History and Development in the Peak District 1920's to the Present Day'. Admission and refreshments free.

07.03.09 - 'The Early Music Man' in St John's Schoolroom at 14:00

A demonstration and performance of early musical instruments such as were found on The Mary Rose. This Saturday afternoon event will appeal to both children and adults. Families are most welcome. Refreshments and admission free.

19.05.09 - A Evening Walk

This will be a themed walk with commentary of approximately 2 hours duration departing at 19:00 prompt. Stout shoes are recommended. Details will be announced nearer the time.

20.06.09 - The Pro Loco Art Competition

Create a picture in the parish on the day. Competitors can register at St Matthew's Church Hall, Hayfield from 08:30. The public vote for their favourite paintings in St Matthew's at 16:00. Presentation of the prizes will take place at 17:30. For full details see the Pro Loco page

This is the 30th year of the Pro Loco competition and we hope to celebrate with extra events.

Early July - Well Dressing Preparations

Coach Excursion to Wirksworth and the National Stone Centre

Date to be confirmed. This is planned as a full day excursion and dependant on numbers is likely to cost around £15. We are currently testing the market and would like to hear if you are interested in coming along and whether you would prefer a week day, a Saturday or a Sunday event.
